Ep. 19: Week 3 at Arizona

This week the guys are measured but optimistic.

Flanny and Cope are happy to talk about a win, but still have bones to pick. For the most part, they were happy with the offense (3:36). Then Flanny tries to keep Cope from going off on the defense (21:38), but they agree yet again on the Star of the Week so they choose to reach deeper (37:00). Next up, Flanny and Cope welcome Joe Curley of the Ventura County Star (@vcsjoecurley) for the Flip Side (38:26) then dive into the Look Ahead for the Rams (51:17). After knocking out predictions (56:11), it’s on to the NFC East Watch (58:42) and Enders (1:00:10) to close it out this week.

Ep. 18: Week 2 at Denver Broncos

This week the guys choose to believe the weather delay never ended.

Flanny and Cope begin a sad but necessary postmortem by floating their general ideas about what might have gone wrong during the butt-whoopin’ by Denver (2:50). Then they go into a more detailed game wrap-up, first covering the disappointing offensive showing (7:36) and then the potentially panic-inducing defensive performance (24:53). They’re able to dredge up a mutual pick for Star of the Week (34:00) and quickly touch on injuries and transactions (34:27) before gladly burying this game and moving on to preview this Monday night’s matchup with Arizona (36:30). Game predictions (43:54), NFC East Watch (46:43), and Enders (48:47) bring this week’s show to a close.

Ep. 17: Week 1 vs. New York Giants

This week the guys tear up a little at the sight of a real pass rush.

The Cowboys open the season with a win over the Giants, and Flanny and Cope are finally talking real football! They start the show by discussing the impressive performance of the defense (01:28) before moving on to talk about Dak and the offense doing what they needed to do (17:38) and then giving you their Stars of the Week (46.13). After the guys interview lifelong Broncos fan Alicia Wallace on the Flip Side (47:08), they preview this Sunday’s game at Denver on the Look Ahead (1:01:00). They wrap up the show with game predictions (1:04:08), NFC East Watch (1:05:09), and some enders (1:06:27).

Ep. 16: Opening Week vs. NY Giants

This week the guys promise not to be boring since it is FINALLY game week … but you can listen for yourself how well that goes.

Flanny and Cope start off by getting you fully up to date on the Ezekiel Elliott situation (1:14). Then they briefly go over takeaways from the final two preseason games (7:36) before launching into their rundown of the 53-man roster (10:10). After that, they welcome special guest Giants fan Dustin Swedelson, producer of The Wrap on Mad Dog Radio, Channel 82 on Sirius XM, for a new segment called “Flip Side” to talk about Dallas’ primetime season-opening matchup versus New York (31:25). The guys then discuss their own thoughts on the coming game (55:19) before making their surprisingly divergent predictions (1:10:52).

Ep. 15: Preseason vs. Indianapolis

This week the guys bring you a shorter than usual show because sometimes less is more and, of course, less Moore is always more (Oh SNAP!).

Flanny and Cope give you a quick news roundup (1:04) before diving into how the team is looking with real football nearly here. They’re both impressed by Dak-to-Dez (2:37). Next, plenty of O-line talk (5:23). And when it comes to Rush vs. Moore, find out what Cope says he’s about ready to change his mind on from last week’s show (9:41).

Then the guys switch gears to defense to talk about Jaylon Smith (20:54), who finally played football! Then some D-line talk (25:38) where Cope tells us what his main concern for the defense going into the season is. Next up, some discussion on the secondary where Flanny lets us know why he’s concerned that we haven’t seen action from those rookie corners yet (30:15). A quick word on special teams (33:58) and a brief look-ahead to Saturday’s Oakland game (35:46) wrap up the show.

Ep. 14: Preseason Look-In

This week the guys talk preseason – where the football is fake but the moral ambiguity is oh so real.

Flanny and Cope present what we know about the Zeke Elliott suspension and give their take on the troubling allegations before going into what it all means for the team and potentially the entire league (12:24). The guys also discuss Jason Witten’s take on the situation (14:00). Moving on to the lighter fare of very heavy men, the guys talk offensive line (24:56), and Cope has high hopes for La’el Collins as the man to replace the retired Doug Free at right tackle (25:15). Then Flanny tells us what the most overhyped offseason story has been so far (34:56) and then Witten basically agrees (35:35). Next, they delve into some defensive line talk (44:08) where Cope informs us which Cowboy needs to put on his “big boy pants” and step up this year (46:38).

Surprising no one who watched the game against the Rams, the guys let us know that they’re less than impressed with Kellen Moore and talk about rookie Cooper Rush in the discussion of who should back Dak Prescott (54:18). Cope wraps up thoughts on the current state of the Cowboys with a take on Jason Garrett and what we can say about whether or not this is starting to finally look like his team (59:10). There’s also a few thoughts on young receivers and defensive backs.

2017 Dallas Cowboys Draft Review

This week the guys had tacos at the top of their snack draft board. They feel good about the Cowboys’ 2017 draft in general and go over each pick in detail, starting with DE Taco Charlton (6:14), who Flanny says is the most polarizing 1st-round pick since Travis Frederick. Both he and Cope like the selection, and they go into what we can expect from him (9:36) and why he may even prove superior to the pure pass-rusher some fans might have been hoping for (13:13). The guys follow up with second-rounder CB Chidobe Awuze talk (16:35): Flanny thinks he can already be considered a top corner on this squad, while Cope – who does like the pick as well – argues he might not even be the top corner chosen by Dallas in this draft.

Flanny and Cope get into the ups and downs of the rest of the Cowboys’ selections, which included some troubling concerns (21:40), one uplifting story (33:09), and one or two head scratchers (36:09) in what they deem an overall successful and exciting 2017 draft for Dallas (38:09). They conclude with an overview of the undrafted free agent situation (51:03) and remind you to keep an eye out for the next show once training camp time rolls around.
